Taylor-Whitney Architects was formed in 1997 by merging the architectural division of Jerry A. Taylor & Associates with Whitney Architects, Inc. Although a relatively new firm, partners Jerry Taylor and John Whitney bring years of experience to bear on every project. Mr. Taylor has over thirty-five years of experience, including eighteen years as a partner at CMW, Inc., and fourteen years as the owner of Jerry A. Taylor & Associates. John Whitney likewise spent thirteen years as a Senior Associate and partner at Omni Architects before establishing Whitney Architects. Mr. Whitney's experiences also include several years' service as University Architect for Spalding University and employment as an assistant professor in the College of Architecture at the University of Kentucky.
The motivation for establishing TWArc was to accommodate new forms of design practices which respond to current changes in the design professions, the construction industry, and society in general. With our combined years of experience, including the design of complex and prestigious projects, coupled with the abilities of our associates, one cannot characterize TWArc as a typical firm. The development of the virtual office structure enables TWArc to practice in a collaborative mode over many locations.
Both Mr. Taylor and Mr. Whitney were involved in the design of significant University Laboratory, Technology and Classroom type building projects while at CMW and Omni and have continued their involvement in this significant building type at TWArc. Their shared experiences, coupled with the experience of the TWArc staff, insures quality design and thorough construction documents.
